Peter Jackson's three-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, produced by New Line Cinema and filmed back-to-back in New Zealand between 1999 and 2000. Released annually from 2001 to 2003, the trilogy won seventeen Academy Awards across its three entries, including Best Picture for The Return of the King.
